The four inventions I learned this week are the universities, the winepress, the ribbed vault, and the chimney.
The first invention is the university. A university is a place where kids can go to college. There are positive and negative impacts on history. A lot of smart people came out of universities, but the kids did bad things because their parents were not there to stop them.
The next invention is the winepress. The winepress is a machine used to squeeze the juice out of grapes. The winepress helped make wines that would not spoil as fast and the new press produced purer wine.
Another invention is the ribbed vault. The ribbed vault is a series of vaults put together to make a hallway. It helped people build long and tall buildings. One could also put windows up really high so one could let in more sunlight.
The last invention is the chimney. The chimney is a long pipe to let smoke out of the house. The chimney helped move the modern house design to how people know it today.
So as one can see, the university, the winepress, the ribbed vault, and the chimney had an important impact on history.
