I learned about the Telephone, the Carpet Sweeper, the Phonograph, and the Motion Picture this week. I will explain how each of these inventions work and how they impacted history.
The Telephone is a device that is used to communicate to other people far away. The Telephone uses wires to send sound waves to other Telephones. The benefits of the Telephone is that one can receive a message much faster than a letter can get to a person.
The Carpet Sweeper is an instrument that can pick up crumbs by pushing it, like a vacuum, over the crumbs.. The Carpet Sweeper has two rollers that, when pushed, rotate sweeping the crumbs inside. This changed history because using the Carpet Sweeper made it a lot easier to clean crumbs out of the carpet.
The Phonograph is a device used to record and playback sound. It records sound by carving the sound wave into the disc. The Phonograph impacted history because without it we would not be able to have music discs.
The Motion Picture is a bunch of pictures put in a slide and shown very quickly which creates an illusion so it looks like it is moving. It is shown at about 24 frames a second. The benefits of the Motion Picture is its great entertainment. A movie can be watched for fun or to learn about something interesting.
Finally, my favorite invention this week is the Telephone because I never realized what was happening when I talked on the phone.
